3. Original Character Information
Name: Ashe (legal name Ashe Wilson)
PB: Christina Hendricks
Journal: [personal profile] phoenixashe
Age: 35
Appearance: A tall, buxom, athletic woman with wavy, slightly wild dark red hair, sea-blue eyes and a friendly, slightly boisterous, approachable manner. She tends to dress casually, and is generally more of a jeans and leather jacket woman than one for high fashion. Her jewelry has a handmade, Pagan-craft-faire look and is mostly made of copper and gold set with multicolored crystals. Her pale skin is unusually warm, and particularly sensitive noses can pick out that her spicy, cinnamon-myrrh-frankincense-spikenard scent is not from perfume. Generally she carries a large messenger bag with her, and she tends to avoid high heels. Ashe has a tendency to talk with her hands, has a great sense of humor and a throaty laugh, and a temper that is neither quick nor sensitive but is a bit scary when triggered. Ashe is constantly surrounded by (usually invisible) minor, friendly spirits of various types, which have specific and limited powers and mostly act as advisers and protectors in the spirit world. Because of this, she often seems slightly distracted, and can sometimes be caught listening or talking to people or persons unknown.

Home World: Ashe comes from the 2nd Edition era of Mage: the Ascension, before the Spirit World went completely to Hell. Her universe is essentially a doomed world wherein two of the three primal forces have gone insane, the Earth is dying, and humans and supernatural beings alike are reaping the rewards of being at each other's throats for many centuries. Because of this, she will be fascinated and relieved to learn about the larger Multiverse.

Powers/Talents
(Note: These are Ashe's stats after being played on two MUSHes and a PBeM. If she is considered too powerful I can take her from before her third Seeking instead. Obviously Ashe isn't going to be able to escape the Realm using her spirit powers. Does this Realm have a near Umbra? If not her summoned spirit buddies could just as easily be simply "invisible/intangible until summoned".)

A fairly competent healer and shamaness.... )

Personality
In a nutshell, a friendly, hedonistic, ethical sweetheart you would not want to piss off. ^__^ )

Why would your character be chosen?
Ashe would likely be chosen for her kindness, spiritual and visionary nature, high Destiny and competence in magic, healing and occult lore. Though she will be almost impossible to convince to marry some Nysgod brat prince, her relief at discovering the larger Multiverse and a chance to save her world will balance out any urge to beat her kidnappers' heads in.
How much does your character know about nonhumans?
Ashe has fairly extensive occult knowledge for her world and the spirit world thanks to her training, experiences and constant conversations with spirits. However, she has very little experience with other Realms beyond the Near Umbra and the land of the dead, and thus may well not have heard of the Nysgods at all.
Why this character:
Ashe is a lot of fun to play and works well in bizarre mixed-race settings. I played Ashe for years in an amazing array of different situations and media, and she never got boring. I only put her down for a while after her last game ended, and I did it reluctantly. I have no doubts that I can keep her voice no matter how long the game runs.

4. Samples
First-Person
My name is Ashe Wilson, and I have no idea where I am. A few minutes ago I was heading up the coast toward Santa Cruz, California in my conversion van, which I can only guess is at the bottom of a sea cliff by now. Good thing I don't have any pets. It was just after three PM, and now I'm looking around at dusk. So, I've got time loss, I'm in a completely foreign place that might be somewhere in the Deep Umbra, and I have weird people fussing over me and trying to get me to dress like a cult member. They have a handy explanation for what is going on, but would you really trust the words of someone who just grabbed you from your world without so much as a by-your-leave?  I don't think so. I'm trying to find out if there is anybody out there with any idea what is actually going on, and how much of the line these people are trying to feed me is bullshit.

Third-Person: In which Ashe attempts to emulate a normal person in order to tempt a cute computer geek out on a date...fails utterly...and manages to catch his interest in part because she's NOT normal.

Third Sample
This temple thing was driving her crazy. It wasn't just the changing rooms or all the weird crap she kept finding in them; it wasn't just the fact that the Nysgods were keeping her and the others like pets, to be pampered, patted on the head condescendingly and controlled. Nor was it just the idea that some idiot manchild of a prince was at fault for all this, because he was too weak and lazy to go searching for a wife and instead had Mommy and Daddy kidnap innocent people for him to "choose from". It was that it had no ties to Earth, or any other world at all: no roots in land, no place to grow her precious herbs or commune with Gaia. It was like a gigantic gilded bird cage, and she knew she would only be free when that little asshole forced one of his captives into marriage.

She had to find a way to start some soil, even if she started keeping aside food scraps to compost. She had a few seeds...it would have to do. If all else failed she had to at least start a container garden. So when the servants next laid out the banquet table, she took a bit more than usual, ate a bit less than usual, and wrapped the remainder in a napkin to hide in her room and break down. She would have to steal a vase or something to store the soil in while she gathered enough. But what else could she do? She kept a close eye on the servants as she tucked bits of bread and fruit and vegetables into her little napkin-pouch, not wanting to catch their attention. Those sitting closest to her, however, could probably see what she was doing.
